The Belfast Giants have suffered their second defeat in as many nights as they were beaten 4-3 by the Fife Flyers in the Challenge Cup on Tuesday night.
The Giants started the game well and took the lead in the 10th minute through Mark Cooper. However, the Flyers hit back quickly and leveled the game through Michael McNicholas just three minutes later.
The Flyers took the lead for the first time in the 28th minute through Kyle just a minute and 12 seconds after the Giants had netted an equaliser. The Giants again hit back quickly and once again drew level through JJ Piccinich.
Second period
The second period was a much tighter affair with neither team able to find a way through. The Giants had the better of the chances but were unable to find a way past Flyers goaltender Adam Morrison.
Third period
The Giants started the third period strongly and were rewarded for their pressure when they took the lead for the third time in the game through Mark Cooper. However, the Flyers once again showed their resilience and hit back to tie the game through Brett Bulmer.
The Flyers then completed the comeback and secured the win when Michael McNicholas scored his second goal of the game with just over two minutes remaining.
The defeat leaves the Giants with just one win from their four Challenge Cup games this season. They will be back in action on Saturday night when they travel to take on the Dundee Stars in the league.
