Chelsea: Former coach explains what Lavia does better than Fernandez
Transfer scrap
Former Chelsea coach Jody Morris has suggested Romeo Lavia does one thing significantly 'better' than Enzo Fernandez, amid continued transfer speculation linking the Manchester City midfielder to Stamford Bridge. Lavia only has 27 senior appearances to his name having spent the majority of his career in the Manchester City academy, but a host of impressive performances at Southampton last term raised eyebrows at the Etihad Stadium. His displays have also reportedly brought him onto Chelsea's radar, although Fernandez is now viewed as the club's primary target in midfield.
What does Lavia do 'a lot better' than Fernandez?
Should Chelsea complete deals for both players this summer, they will have two talented young midfielders on their hands. But, according to Jody Morris, Lavia is already superior in one aspect of play. "I would say [Lavia] is a lot more dynamic, he can get to box-to-box a lot more, because he does have the physicality to get around the pitch and he's very good on the ball," Morris told Stadium Astro. "I think that's something that he does a lot better than Enzo, just getting around the pitch."
