Good to Soft Ground Maintained for Second Day
Racegoers at Cheltenham were treated to good to soft ground for the second day of the Paddy Power Gold Cup Festival on Saturday. Despite heavy rain overnight, the conditions were near perfect for racing.
The going was described as good to soft, good in places on the Old Course, while the New Course was reported to be soft, good to soft in places.
Going Report
Clerk of the course Simon Claisse said: "We've had 9mm of rain overnight, but the ground has taken it well and we're racing on good to soft ground, good in places on the Old Course and soft, good to soft in places on the New Course."
He added: "We're expecting a dry day tomorrow, so the ground should remain the same for the final day of the Festival."
Race Results
The feature race of the day, the Paddy Power Gold Cup, was won by A Plus Tard, ridden by Rachael Blackmore. The eight-year-old gelding made it back-to-back wins in the race, having also won it in 2021.
Other winners on the card included Galopin des Champs in the Brown Advisory Novices' Chase, Constitution Hill in the Sky Bet Supreme Novices' Hurdle, andAppreciate It in the Ryanair Chase.

The final day of the Paddy Power Gold Cup Festival takes place on Sunday. The feature race is the Cheltenham Gold Cup, which is one of the most prestigious races in the National Hunt calendar.
