Renee Garcia breaks down her team's win over the Wings and looks ahead to the matchup with San Antonio
Spurs next up on the schedule for Dallas
DALLAS, Texas - The Wings came into Sunday's game winners of six straight and looking for their third straight playoff appearance. The Wings led by 13 at halftime, but fell to the Wings 86-74. Renee Garcia was happy with her team's performance in the second half. ""We just got stops. That was it," she said. "They were making shots in the first half, and then defensively, we got stops in the second half, and that was the difference." The Wings held the Wings to just 31.7% shooting in the second half, including 2-of-15 from three-point range. "We just made some adjustments at halftime," Garcia said. "We just talked about being more physical with them, trying to get some deflections, and I thought our defense did a great job of that in the second half." Arike Ogunbowale led the Wings with 21 points, while Satou Sabally added 18 points and Marina Mabrey chipped in 12. The Wings will now travel to San Antonio to face the Spurs on Tuesday. "We're going to have to play together," Garcia said. "We're going to have to play physical. We're going to have to rebound the ball. They're a good team, so we're going to have to be ready to play."The Spurs are 12-13 this season and currently sit in eighth place in the Western Conference standings.
The Spurs are led by Keldon Johnson, who is averaging 21.8 points per game. Dejounte Murray is also averaging a double-double with 19.3 points and 9.3 assists per game.
The Wings will need to be at their best to beat the Spurs on Tuesday.
