French scrum-half Antoine Dupont urges fans to dream of Rugby World Cup title
Dupont cites New Zealand's dominance as motivation for Les Bleus
France captain Antoine Dupont has urged fans to dream of winning the Rugby World Cup, saying New Zealand's dominance of the sport should be a source of motivation for Les Bleus.
New Zealand have won the World Cup three times, including the last two editions in 2011 and 2015, and are widely regarded as the greatest rugby team of all time.
But Dupont believes France have the potential to challenge the All Blacks, particularly after their impressive Six Nations campaign earlier this year.
"We have to dream of winning the World Cup," Dupont said. “New Zealand are the best team in the world, but we have shown that we can compete with them.”
“We have a lot of young players who are hungry to succeed, and we have a good mix of experience and youth. I think we have the potential to be a really special team."
France will face New Zealand in the pool stage of the 2023 Rugby World Cup
France will face New Zealand in the pool stage of the 2023 Rugby World Cup, which will be held in France.
It will be a huge test for Les Bleus, but Dupont is confident that his team can cause an upset.
"We know that New Zealand will be a tough opponent, but we are confident that we can beat them," Dupont said.
“We have a lot of respect for them, but we are not afraid of them. We are going to give everything we have to win the World Cup.”
The Rugby World Cup will be held in France from September 8 to October 28, 2023.
