Gary Anderson's Grand Slam Dream Dashed by Stephen Bunting
Anderson Loses 16-10 in Quarter-Finals
Gary Anderson's hopes of winning the Grand Slam of Darts were dashed on Saturday night after he was beaten 16-10 by Stephen Bunting in the quarter-finals.
The Scot had been in impressive form throughout the tournament, but he was unable to match the brilliance of Bunting, who produced a stunning display of scoring and finishing.
Anderson was left to rue a series of missed doubles, which proved costly in the end.
Bunting Reaches Semi-Finals
Bunting's victory means he has now reached the semi-finals of the Grand Slam of Darts, where he will face either Michael van Gerwen or Gerwyn Price.
The Englishman has been in excellent form all year, and he will be confident of causing an upset against either of the top two seeds.
Anderson, meanwhile, will be disappointed with his performance, but he can take heart from the fact that he has reached the quarter-finals of a major tournament for the second time this year.
Anderson's Grand Slam Record
Anderson has now reached the quarter-finals of the Grand Slam of Darts on three occasions, but he has yet to progress any further.
The Scot will be hoping to break his Grand Slam duck next year, but he will need to improve his finishing if he is to challenge the likes of Van Gerwen and Price.
