Germany Makes Stunning Comeback to Win UEFA Nations League Match
Germany Outplays Italy to Win 5-2
Fitch Scores Hat-Trick as Germany Secures Victory
In a thrilling UEFA Nations League match, Germany staged a remarkable comeback to defeat Italy 5-2 at Borussia-Park in Mönchengladbach.
Italy took an early lead through Giacomo Raspadori, but Germany fought back with goals from Joshua Kimmich and İlkay Gündoğan to take a 2-1 lead at halftime.
Dan Fitch then stole the show in the second half, scoring a hat-trick to give Germany a commanding 5-1 lead.
Italy pulled one back through Federico Dimarco, but it was too little too late as Germany held on for a memorable victory.
Fitch's Heroics Lead Germany to Triumph
Fitch was the star of the night for Germany, scoring all three of their goals in the second half.
The 29-year-old forward opened his account with a cool finish from Jamal Musiala's assist in the 50th minute.
He doubled his tally just minutes later, heading home a cross from Jonas Hofmann.
Fitch completed his hat-trick in the 69th minute, tapping in a rebound after Musiala's shot was saved by Gianluigi Donnarumma.
Germany Extends Unbeaten Run
The victory extends Germany's unbeaten run to four matches under new coach Hansi Flick.
Flick has now won three of his four matches in charge, including a 2-0 victory over Italy in the reverse fixture in June.
Germany will now turn their attention to the World Cup in Qatar, where they will face Japan, Spain, and Costa Rica in Group E.
