European Broadcasting Union Announces Host Country
Cologne to Welcome Young Performers from Across Europe
The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) has announced that Germany will host the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2024. The event will take place in the city of Cologne, marking Germany's first time hosting the competition.
The Junior Eurovision Song Contest is an annual singing competition for young performers aged 9 to 14. The contest was first held in 2003 and has since become a popular event across Europe. The 2023 contest will be held in Yerevan, Armenia, on December 11.
Germany has a strong tradition of music and has hosted several major music events, including the Eurovision Song Contest in 1956, 1983, 2011, and 2022. The country is also home to a number of successful musicians, including Lena Meyer-Landrut, who won the Eurovision Song Contest in 2010.
The EBU said that it was "delighted" to announce Germany as the host country for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2024. "Germany has a long and successful history in the Eurovision Song Contest, and we are confident that they will put on a fantastic show for the young performers and viewers across Europe," said Martin Österdahl, the EBU's Executive Supervisor of the Eurovision Song Contest.
The German broadcaster NDR will be responsible for producing the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2024. The contest will be held at the Lanxess Arena in Cologne, which has a capacity of over 18,000. The dates of the contest have not yet been announced.
