Gillian Anderson really did not like that last season of X-Files
It was "a mess," she says
Gillian Anderson has never been shy about her feelings about the last season of X-Files. Now, in a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter, she's opened up about why she found it so disappointing.
"I think we all kind of felt like it was a mess," she said. "It was a mess creatively, it was a mess executively."
Anderson said that she wasn't happy with the way her character, Dana Scully, was written in the final season. She felt that Scully was "reduced to being a plot device" and that her relationship with Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) was "not handled well."
She also criticized the show's new mythology, which she said was "convoluted and confusing." She said that she and Duchovny were both "confused" by the new mythology and that they "didn't really understand what was going on."
Anderson's comments are sure to disappoint fans of the show, who had hoped that the final season would provide some closure to the long-running series.
