Irish Premiership: Linfield beat Larne to go eight points clear at the top
Linfield moved eight points clear at the top of the Irish Premiership with a 2-0 win over Larne at Inver Park on Friday night.
Goals from Chris McKee and Daniel Finlayson secured the victory for the Blues, who were in control for much of the game.
Linfield started the game brightly and took the lead in the 10th minute when McKee headed home from a Kirk Millar cross.
The Blues continued to press and doubled their lead in the 25th minute when Finlayson finished well after being played in by Robbie McDaid.
Larne improved after the break but could not find a way back into the game, with Linfield goalkeeper Chris Johns making a number of good saves.
The win takes Linfield eight points clear of nearest challengers Glentoran, who have a game in hand.
Larne remain in fourth place, four points behind third-placed Cliftonville.
