Slaughtneil secure Christy Ring Cup semi-final berth as Ruairi Og Cushendall’s campaign comes to an end

Slaughtneil have reached the Christy Ring Cup semi-finals after overcoming Ruairi Og Cushendall in Saturday’s quarter-final clash at Owenbeg.

A goal from Shane McGuigan helped Slaughtneil into an early lead and they never looked back from that point onwards. They led by 1-10 to 0-7 at the break and their second goal, which arrived midway through the second half, killed the tie off as a contest.

McAllister finished with 1-5 to his name while McGuigan netted 1-3 as Slaughtneil set up a semi-final against Kerry or Meath.

Ruairi Og Cushendall battled gamely but they were always chasing the game. They never threatened to get back into contention after Slaughtneil’s second goal and their hopes of reaching the last four were ended when they were beaten by eight points.

Slaughtneil will now face Kerry or Meath in the semi-finals on Saturday, July 16th. The venue for that game has yet to be confirmed.
