Jaylon Johnson Shares Thoughts on Bears Offensive Coaching Change
Former Chicago Bears cornerback says he's "excited" about the team's new offensive coordinator
Johnson says he believes Luke Getsy will be a "great addition" to the Bears
Former Chicago Bears cornerback Jaylon Johnson said he's "excited" about the team's new offensive coordinator, Luke Getsy.
"I think he's going to be a great addition to the Bears," Johnson said. "He's a young, up-and-coming coach who has a lot of experience in this league. I think he's going to bring a lot of energy and excitement to the offense."
Getsy was hired by the Bears in January after spending the past two seasons as the quarterbacks coach for the Green Bay Packers. He previously worked with the Packers as an offensive quality control coach from 2014 to 2018.
Johnson said he's familiar with Getsy's work from his time in Green Bay.
"I've seen some of the things he's done with the Packers' offense, and I'm impressed," Johnson said. "He's a very creative coach who knows how to get the most out of his players. I think he's going to be a great fit for the Bears."
Johnson said he's looking forward to seeing what Getsy can do with the Bears' offense.
"I think he's going to bring a lot of new ideas and concepts to the offense," Johnson said. "I'm excited to see how he uses our players and what kind of offense he puts together."
The Bears are coming off a disappointing 6-11 season in which they finished last in the NFC North. The offense struggled mightily, ranking near the bottom of the league in most major statistical categories.
Johnson said he believes Getsy can help the Bears turn things around on offense.
"I think he's the right coach to lead this offense," Johnson said. "I'm excited to see what he can do."
