Leona Maguire set to miss out on chase for a slice of $11 million jackpot
Irish star misses out on weekend action at CME Group Tour Championship
Maguire's season comes to an end after failing to make the cut in Florida
Irish golf star Leona Maguire will miss out on the chance to chase a share of the $11 million jackpot at the CME Group Tour Championship after missing the cut at Tiburon Golf Club in Florida.
The Cavan native carded rounds of 74 and 73 to finish at three over par, six shots outside the mark to qualify for the weekend rounds.
Maguire's season comes to an end after a breakthrough year on the LPGA Tour, which saw her claim her maiden title at the Meijer LPGA Classic in June.
The 27-year-old also represented Europe in the Solheim Cup and was part of the victorious Great Britain and Ireland team at the ISPS Handa World Invitational.
Maguire's absence from the CME Group Tour Championship is a blow to her hopes of finishing the season in the top 10 of the Race to CME Globe standings.
She currently sits in 11th place but will need a strong performance at next week's Pelican Women's Championship to have any chance of breaking into the top 10.
The CME Group Tour Championship is the final event of the LPGA Tour season and features the top 60 players in the Race to CME Globe standings.
The winner will receive a $2 million prize from a total purse of $5 million, while the top 10 finishers will share a bonus pool of $6 million.
