Major fight ‘downgraded’ on Ramirez-Billam-Smith card
Unbeaten light-heavyweight contender Joshua Buatsi will now face former world champion Jean Pascal on the undercard of Josh Taylor vs. Teofimo Lopez on June 10 in Glasgow.
Buatsi was originally scheduled to face former WBO light-heavyweight champion Sergey Kovalev in a 12-round bout, but that fight has been canceled due to Kovalev's recent arrest on domestic violence charges.
Buatsi, who is ranked No. 2 by the WBO and No. 3 by the WBC, will now face Pascal, who is a former WBC and IBF light-heavyweight champion.
Pascal, who is 39 years old, has a record of 36-6-1 with 20 knockouts. He has fought some of the best fighters in the light-heavyweight division, including Sergey Kovalev, Dmitry Bivol, and Artur Beterbiev.
Buatsi, who is 15 years younger than Pascal, is considered one of the rising stars in the light-heavyweight division. He has a record of 16-0 with 13 knockouts, and he has won his last four fights by knockout.
The fight between Buatsi and Pascal is expected to be a competitive one. Pascal is a veteran fighter who has been in the ring with some of the best in the world, while Buatsi is a young, hungry fighter who is looking to make a name for himself.
The fight will be televised live on ESPN+ in the United States.
