Motorcyclist airlifted to hospital following serious collision

A man has been rushed to hospital after a motorbike crash on the M25 caused severe rush hour delays.

The collision happened on the clockwise carriageway between junctions 25 and 26 near Waltham Cross, Hertfordshire, at around 7.30am on Tuesday (September 27).

The motorcyclist, a man in his 20s, was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries.

Road closures and heavy traffic

The M25 was closed in both directions between junctions 25 and 26 while emergency services dealt with the incident.

The clockwise carriageway reopened around 9am, but the anticlockwise carriageway remained closed for several hours.

There were severe delays in the area, with traffic queuing back for several miles.

Diversions in place

Diversions were put in place, with traffic being diverted off the M25 at junction 25 and onto the A10.

Drivers were advised to avoid the area if possible.

Police investigation

Police are investigating the circumstances of the crash.
