Moss Side double murder inquiry launched after two stabbed
Detectives have launched a murder inquiry after two people were stabbed to death in Manchester.
The victims, a man and a woman, were found with stab wounds in a flat on Claremont Road, Moss Side, at around 10.30pm on Friday. They were pronounced dead at the scene.
A 28-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody for questioning.
Detective Superintendent Phil Reade, of GMP's Major Incident Team, said: "This is a tragic incident in which two people have lost their lives. Our thoughts are with their families and friends at this difficult time.
"We are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed this incident or who has any information to come forward. We are particularly keen to hear from anyone who may have seen or heard anything suspicious on Claremont Road in the hours leading up to the incident.
"There will be a significant police presence in the area while we carry out our inquiries. I would like to thank the community for their patience and cooperation."
Claremont Road is closed between Princess Road and Moss Lane East while police investigate.
