Christmas spirit kicks off in Newcastle with festive events and a giant gift

Newcastle is officially in the Christmas spirit, with the launch of a festive programme of events and the installation of a giant gift in the city center.

The 10-meter-tall gift, wrapped in a giant red bow, was unveiled in Newcastle's Grey's Monument on November 17, marking the start of the city's Christmas celebrations.

The gift will remain in place until the end of December and will serve as a festive landmark for shoppers and visitors to the city center.

Christmas events in Newcastle

In addition to the giant gift, Newcastle will host a range of festive events throughout the Christmas period.

These events include the Newcastle Christmas Market, which will take place in the city center from November 20 to December 22.

The market will feature a range of stalls selling Christmas gifts, food, and drink.

Other festive events taking place in Newcastle include the Christmas Lights Switch-On, which will take place on November 24, and the city's annual Santa Run, which will take place on December 11.

In addition to the Christmas events, there are plenty of other festive activities taking place in Newcastle throughout the Christmas period.

These activities include ice skating at the Life Science Centre, visiting Santa's Grotto at the Centre for Life, and seeing the Christmas lights at Newcastle Castle.
