Police suspend search for Martyn Richardson after body found in waterway
Man's body discovered in River Thames near where Martyn Richardson went missing
Police have suspended their search for missing man Martyn Richardson after a body was found in the River Thames.
The body was discovered near Cleeve Lock, Goring, on Monday (August 15) at around 11.30am.
Formal identification has not yet taken place, but Mr. Richardson's family has been informed of the development.
The 56-year-old was last seen at his home in Moulsford on Friday (August 12).
He was reported missing on Saturday (August 13) after he failed to return home.
Police launched a search for Mr. Richardson, which involved officers from the force's specialist search and rescue team, as well as the National Police Air Service.
The search was suspended on Monday afternoon after the body was found.
The death is being treated as unexplained, and a file is being prepared for the coroner.
Senior Investigating Officer, Detective Inspector Andy Howard, said: "This is a very sad and difficult time for Mr. Richardson's family and friends, and our thoughts are with them at this time.
