Porsche recalls 1,000 luxury cars over risk of WHEELS falling off with owners warned do 'not to use your vehicle'
Owners of over 1,000 Porsche sports cars have been warned not to drive their vehicles after the manufacturer issued an urgent safety recall
The German car giant said a manufacturing fault meant the rear wheels on some of its luxury models could come loose while driving.
Owners of the affected Porsche 911 GT3 and Porsche 911 GT3 RS models, made between 2021 and 2023, have been told to stop driving them immediately.
Porsche has said it will contact all affected owners and arrange for the necessary repairs to be carried out free of charge
The company said it was working to identify how many UK vehicles were affected by the issue, but it is understood to be around 150.
A Porsche spokesman said: "Porsche has issued a safety recall for certain 911 GT3 and 911 GT3 RS models due to a potential issue with the rear wheel hub.
"In rare cases, the rear wheel hub may not have been manufactured to the correct specification, which could lead to the rear wheel becoming detached from the vehicle while driving.
"Porsche is asking all affected customers to stop driving their vehicles immediately and to contact their local Porsche Centre to arrange for the necessary repairs to be carried out free of charge."
The recall affects Porsche 911 GT3 and 911 GT3 RS models built between May 18, 2021, and February 15, 2023.
Customers can check if their vehicle is affected by entering their VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) on the Porsche website.
