Scott Edwards joins unlucky club of batters in T20Is
Rossouw record a second four-ball duck, the others to do so in T20Is are all big names
Scott Edwards became the fifth player in men's T20I history to be dismissed for a four-ball duck, joining an exclusive club which also features some of the world's most accomplished batters.
Edwards's latest dismissal came during the second T20I between New Zealand and India in Lucknow on Sunday, January 29, 2023.
The right-hander was dismissed by India's left-arm spinner Axar Patel, who bowled a quicker delivery which Edwards failed to connect with, resulting in him being trapped leg before wicket (LBW).
The other four batters to have been dismissed for a four-ball duck in T20Is are all big names in world cricket: Jacques Kallis, Brendon McCullum, AB de Villiers, and Rilee Rossouw.
Ironically, Rossouw also recorded a four-ball duck in the same match as Edwards, becoming the first player to be dismissed in this manner twice in T20Is.
Edwards' dismissal was a rare occurrence, but it did not prevent New Zealand from winning the match by six wickets and leveling the series 1-1.
The third and final T20I between the two sides is scheduled to be played in Ahmedabad on Wednesday, February 1, 2023.
