Libbok was widely criticized for his performance at the World Cup, but Erasmus said he has faith in the flyhalf and believes he will bounce back
Springboks assistant coach Rassie Erasmus says he has faith in flyhalf Manie Libbok and believes he will bounce back stronger after a disappointing World Cup campaign.
Libbok was widely criticized for his performance at the tournament, with many calling for him to be dropped from the team.
However, Erasmus said he was confident Libbok had the mental fortitude to come back stronger.
"Manie is a quality player, and I have no doubt that he will bounce back from this," Erasmus said.
"He's a tough kid, and he's mentally very strong. He's also a very hard worker, so I know he'll put in the effort to improve.
"I'm confident that he'll come back stronger and be a valuable asset to the team in the future."
Libbok made his Test debut for the Springboks in 2022, and has since earned 10 caps.
He was part of the Springboks squad that won the Rugby Championship in 2022, but was dropped for the World Cup after a poor performance in the semi-final against England.
Libbok will be hoping to earn a recall to the Springboks squad for the 2023 Rugby World Cup.
