Steve Cotterill hailing York's players and fans after maiden win as manager
Manager delighted with the team's character and resilience after a spirited performance in tricky conditions.
York City boss Steve Cotterill hailed his players and the club's fans after securing his first win as manager with a 2-1 victory over Woking at the LNER Community Stadium.
The Minstermen produced a determined display to overcome the Cards, with goals from Lenell John-Lewis and Olly Dyson securing all three points.
Cotterill was full of praise for his players after the match, saying: "I thought we were excellent today. We showed great character and resilience, especially in the second half when Woking came back into the game."
The win was York's first in five matches, and Cotterill was delighted to see his team get back to winning ways.
He said: "It's been a tough few weeks, but we've never stopped believing in ourselves. Today's win is a just reward for all the hard work the players have put in."
Cotterill also praised the York fans for their support, saying: "The fans were brilliant today. They got behind the team and really helped us to get over the line.
He added: "It's great to get my first win as York manager, but it's more important that we keep building on this performance and keep moving up the table."
