Strictly Come Dancing Blackpool Week judges and presenters talk cold seaside dips, fish and chips and reveal why expectations are higher in the Tower Ballroom
Strictly Come Dancing Blackpool Week judges and presenters have spoken about their experiences of the seaside town and revealed why they believe the Tower Ballroom holds a special place in the hearts of the show’s fans.
The Tower Ballroom is a legendary venue that has hosted Strictly Come Dancing since 2004, and each year the show’s stars and judges make the journey to Blackpool for a special week of live shows.
The Ballroom is steeped in history and tradition, and it has a unique atmosphere that makes it a truly special place to perform. Speaking ahead of this year’s Blackpool Week, judge Craig Revel Horwood said: “Blackpool is the home of ballroom dancing, so it’s always a special week for us. The Tower Ballroom is a beautiful venue and the audience is always so enthusiastic.”
Fellow judge Shirley Ballas added: “Blackpool is a magical place. There’s something about the seaside air and the excitement of the Tower Ballroom that just makes everything feel different. It’s a week that all of the dancers look forward to.”
Presenter Tess Daly said: “Blackpool is a town that has a real buzz about it. The people are so friendly and welcoming, and there’s always something going on. It’s a great place to come for a weekend away, and it’s even better when you’re here for Strictly.
Fellow presenter Claudia Winkleman added: “Blackpool is a place that holds a special place in the hearts of Strictly fans. The Tower Ballroom is an iconic venue, and it’s always a privilege to be here. The atmosphere is electric, and the audience is always so passionate about the show.”
The judges and presenters also spoke about their experiences of Blackpool outside of the Tower Ballroom. Craig Revel Horwood said: “I love going for walks along the promenade. It’s so peaceful and relaxing, and it’s a great way to clear your head after a busy day of rehearsals.”
Shirley Ballas added: “I always make sure to visit the Winter Gardens when I’m in Blackpool. It’s a beautiful building and it’s always hosting interesting exhibitions. I also love going to the Grand Theatre to see a show.”
Tess Daly said: “Blackpool is a great place to come for a family holiday. There are so many things to do for kids of all ages. I always take my kids to the Pleasure Beach, and they love it.”
Claudia Winkleman added: “I love going to the fish and chip shops in Blackpool. They’re some of the best in the country. I always get a cod and chips with mushy peas, and it’s always delicious.
“I also love going for a swim in the sea. It’s always so refreshing, even in the winter.”
