Sir Bruce Forsyth, the legendary host of Strictly Come Dancing and The X Factor (UK), has died at the age of 89.

Forsyth, who was known for his catchphrase "Nice to see you, to see you, nice," had been battling ill health for some time.

He passed away peacefully at his home in Surrey on Friday morning.

Tess Daly, who co-hosted Strictly Come Dancing with Forsyth, said: "Bruce was a wonderful friend and mentor and I will miss him dearly.

"He was a true showman and a gentleman and I feel privileged to have worked with him."

Forsyth began his career in showbusiness as a child performer in the 1930s.
