Strictly's Chris McCausland praised for 'poignant' dance imitating blindness
Paralympian Chris McCausland has been praised for a 'poignant' and 'beautiful' dance on Strictly Come Dancing.
The performance, which aired on Saturday night, saw McCausland and his professional partner Karen Hauer perform a Viennese Waltz to the song '(Everything I Do) I Do It For You' by Bryan Adams.
McCausland, who is registered blind, danced the entire routine without using his sight. He relied on his partner, Hauer, to guide him around the dance floor.
The performance was met with widespread praise from viewers, with many taking to social media to share their thoughts.
"That was one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen on Strictly," wrote one viewer.
"Chris McCausland is an inspiration," added another.
McCausland's performance was also praised by the judges, with Craig Revel Horwood describing it as "poignant" and "touching".
Anton Du Beke said it was "a beautiful dance" and "a credit to both Chris and Karen".
McCausland's performance was all the more impressive given that he only started dancing a few months ago.
He said: "I never thought I would be able to dance, but Karen has been so patient and supportive."
"I'm so glad I decided to give it a go."
