The Met Office has issued a weather warning for snow and ice across Inverclyde, with residents being urged to be prepared for disruption.
The yellow warning covers the area from 3pm on Sunday, December 11, until 10am on Monday, December 12.
The Met Office said: "A band of rain, sleet and snow is expected to spread eastwards across the UK during Sunday night and into Monday. This is likely to lead to some disruption to travel with icy surfaces possible.
Inverclyde Council said it was closely monitoring the weather forecast and would take appropriate action if necessary.
Councillor Michael McCormick, Inverclyde Council's convener of environment and regeneration, said: "We are aware of the weather warning and we are monitoring the situation closely.
"We would advise residents to be prepared for some disruption to travel, particularly on higher ground, and to take extra care when out and about."
The Met Office has issued the following advice for people in affected areas:
- Be aware of the weather forecast and warnings.
- Allow extra time for your journey and take extra care when driving.
- If you have to walk, wear appropriate clothing and footwear.
- Be aware of the risk of slips and falls on icy surfaces.
- If you have any vulnerable neighbours, check in on them and make sure they are prepared for the cold weather.
