Tributes paid to ‘national treasure’ who found fame with D’Unbelievables
Colleagues, friends and fans have paid tribute to actor and comedian Jon Kenny, who has died aged 66.
A comedian to his core
Kenny, who was born in Dublin, was best known for his work with comedy duo D'Unbelievables alongside Pat Shortt. The pair found fame with their hilarious sketches on the RTÉ sketch show Hall’s Pictorial Weekly, and went on to star in their own sitcom, The D’Unbelievables.
Kenny was also a successful solo performer, with a string of sell-out shows to his name. He was known for his sharp wit, his gift for storytelling, and his ability to connect with audiences of all ages.
Tributes pour in
Following the news of Kenny's death, tributes poured in from friends and colleagues in the entertainment industry.
"Jon Kenny was an entertainer to his core, and he will be deeply missed," said Pat Shortt. "He was a brilliant comedian, a wonderful storyteller, and a true friend. I will miss him dearly."
"Jon was a national treasure," said comedian Tommy Tiernan. "He was one of the funniest people I have ever met, and he had a gift for making people laugh. He will be sadly missed."
Kenny is survived by his wife, Sandra, and his three children.
