BOTSWANA TIE MAUERTANIA TO QUALIFY TO AFRICA CUP OF NATIONS
Botswana draw with Mauritania enough to qualify
Gaborone - That result leaves Botswana third in Group I, behind leaders Morocco and second-placed Mauritania, with Senegal finishing bottom of the standings.
Third-placed finish was enough for Botswana to qualify for the finals of next year's Africa Cup of Nations.
The Zebras will be making their third appearance at the continental showpiece, having previously featured in 2012 and 2014.
A draw was enough for Botswana to qualify for next year's Africa Cup of Nations finals, as they held Mauritania to a 1-1 draw in their final Group I qualifier on Sunday.
After holding Morocco to a 1-1 draw in their previous outing, Botswana knew that a positive result against Mauritania would be enough to see them through to the finals in Cameroon.
They made a positive start to the game and took the lead in the 10th minute when Kabelo Seakanyeng fired home from close range.
Mauritania equalised in the 66th minute through Adama Ba, but Botswana held on for a point that was enough to secure their place in the finals.
Botswana will be joined in the finals by Morocco, who finished top of Group I with 14 points, and Mauritania, who finished second with 11 points.
Senegal finished bottom of the standings with four points.
