City lose top spot after first away defeat of the season against Forest Green
Bristol City suffered their first away defeat of the season as they were beaten 2-1 by Forest Green in League One.
The Robins, who had won their previous three away matches, fell behind in the 23rd minute when Josh March poked home from close range. City leveled through Sam Bell in the 65th minute, but Rovers substitute Jake Young grabbed a late winner in the 89th minute.
It was Bristol City’s first league defeat since August 20, and the loss leaves them in second place in the table, one point behind leaders Ipswich Town.
City manager Nigel Pearson admitted that his team were not at their best. “We weren’t good enough today,” he said. “We didn’t create enough chances and we didn’t defend well enough.”
Bristol City will look to bounce back when they host Exeter City in the EFL Trophy on Tuesday.
