Tries from Jamie George, Ollie Chessum and Henry Arundell seal famous victory
England rallied from a 12-point deficit to beat South Africa 27-13 in Steve Borthwick’s first match as head coach.
The Springboks made a fast start when Kurt-Lee Arendse kicked a penalty before Damian Willemse crossed for the opening try after a slick move by the visitors.
However, England hit back with a try from Jamie George just before half-time to reduce the deficit to 13-8 at the break.
The Red Roses continued to improve after the break and drew level when Ollie Chessum crashed over from close range.
And they sealed a famous victory when Henry Arundell went over in the corner with 10 minutes remaining.
The victory gives Borthwick a winning start to his tenure as head coach and will give England confidence ahead of the Six Nations Championship, which begins next month.
