Manchester stay perfect, Chelsea held by City

Manchester City stayed perfect in the Women's Super League with a 2-0 victory over Leicester on Sunday, while Chelsea were held to a 0-0 draw by Manchester City.

Lauren James scored twice for City, while Erin Cuthbert had a penalty saved for Chelsea.

The result leaves City top of the table with 12 points from four games, while Chelsea are second with eight points.

City were the better side in the first half and took the lead in the 16th minute when James fired home from close range.

James doubled the lead in the 33rd minute with a fine solo effort, beating two defenders before slotting home.

Chelsea improved in the second half and had a chance to equalise when they were awarded a penalty in the 65th minute.

However, Cuthbert's spot-kick was saved by City goalkeeper Ellie Roebuck.

The result means that City have now won their first four games of the season, while Chelsea have drawn two of their four matches.

City will be looking to continue their perfect start to the season when they travel to Brighton next weekend.

Chelsea, meanwhile, will be looking to bounce back from their draw when they host Birmingham City.
