Shocking discovery as two found stabbed to death in the same street

Two people have been found stabbed to death in the same street - sparking a double murder investigation.

Police were called to the scene in Stevenage, Hertfordshire, shortly after 8pm on Saturday following reports of a disturbance. Officers found two people with stab wounds and, despite the best efforts of paramedics, they were both pronounced dead at the scene.

A cordon remains in place while forensic officers carry out their investigation. The victims have not yet been formally identified, but their families have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.

Detective Chief Inspector Justine Jenkins, from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Major Crime Unit, said:

"This is a tragic incident and our thoughts are with the families and friends of the victims at this difficult time. We are doing everything we can to establish the circumstances of what happened and bring those responsible to justice."

Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or who has any information to come forward. They can contact police on 101 or via the force's online reporting tool, quoting Operation Lithgow.
