Leeds boss hails resilience as Whites earn draw

Caretaker manager Michael Skubala was proud of his Leeds players as they battled to a hard-fought 1-1 draw at Exeter in the FA Cup third round.

The Whites fell behind to a stunning long-range strike from Exeter's Jack Sparkes, but responded well and levelled through Sonny Perkins.

Skubala said: "I'm really proud of the players. They showed great resilience and character to come back from a goal down against a very good Exeter side."

Skubala hails team spirit

The draw means Leeds will host Cardiff in a replay at Elland Road next month.

Skubala said: "The team spirit was excellent today. The players fought for each other and never gave up.

"We created some good chances and could have won the game, but overall I'm happy with a point."

Next up for Leeds

Leeds return to Premier League action on Wednesday when they host Manchester United at Elland Road.

Skubala said: "We'll need to recover quickly and be ready for a tough game against Manchester United.

"We'll be looking to build on the performance today and get three points."
