Steve Borthwick's England looking to end dismal run at Twickenham against Springboks
England face their sternest examination under new head coach Steve Borthwick when they host world champions South Africa.
England have lost five of their past six matches, including defeats by Argentina and Scotland in their opening two Six Nations games.
It is the first time since 2006 that England have lost their opening two Six Nations matches.
South Africa have won their past four matches against England and are on a 10-match winning run.
They are looking to become only the second nation after New Zealand to win three successive World Cups.
England have not beaten South Africa at Twickenham since 2006, losing their past five matches.
New England head coach Steve Borthwick has made a number of changes to the team.
He has recalled Bath wing Anthony Watson, who has not played for England since July 2022.
Borthwick has also handed a debut to Saracens scrum-half Ben Spencer.
England will be without a number of key players through injury, including captain Owen Farrell and fly-half Marcus Smith.
South Africa are without a number of key players including captain Siya Kolisi and scrum-half Faf de Klerk.
The match is set to be a close contest and could go either way.
