Knibb emerges triumphant as inaugural T100 Triathlon World Champion
American marathon runner takes historic first T100 Triathlon World Championship title
American runner and two-time Olympian Molly Knibb put in a dominant performance on Friday 10th November to be crowned the first-ever T100 Triathlon World Champion in Dubai.
The T100 Triathlon World Championship is the brainchild of the International Triathlon Union (ITU) and takes place over a grueling 100-mile course, comprising a 1.2-mile swim, 56-mile bike ride, and 26.2-mile run.
Knibb takes the lead early on
Knibb took an early lead in the swim and never looked back, coming out of the water ahead of Laura Siddall of Great Britain and defending Ironman World Champion Anne Haug of Germany.
The American extended her advantage during the bike leg, entering the final discipline with an eight-minute lead over Haug.
A commanding lead
Despite the high midday temperatures Knibb maintained her commanding lead in the marathon, eventually crossing the line in a time of 10 hours, 22 minutes, and 46 seconds.
Knibb's time was over 18 minutes ahead of second-placed Haug, who could only manage to reduce the gap marginally during the marathon.
A historic win
Knibb's victory marks a historic achievement in the world of triathlon, as she becomes the first-ever T100 Triathlon World Champion.
The American's victory is a testament to her hard work, dedication, and resilience, and she will undoubtedly be a force to be reckoned with in future T100 Triathlon World Championships.
